Girls Basketball - Information on Upcoming Activities for 2022-23 Season

Let's go Stangs!

Below is a typical year in the life of a RHS Girls Basketball player (and their parents!). This is a general overview for those new to the program (and a gentle reminder for returning) to help set expectations about the level of commitment for the year and to help your family plan ahead.  Always visit RHS Girls Basketball for any updates on practices, links to official games schedule, etc.

Team tryouts will be held November 14 - 16 (5-7pm). Teams will be announced Nov 16. Parent Meeting November 17 to provide everyone with the more concrete details about the season and provide the opportunity to ask questions about the program.

NOVEMBER

TRY OUTS

  • Tryouts for 2022 - 2023 season will be November 14 - 16 (5-7 pm)
  • All players trying out for Girls Basketball must register and complete all LWSD paperwork to participate in tryouts.  Learn more about the registration process
  • Girls Basketball is a cut sport. 
  • Team invitations will be visible via FinalForms shortly after tryouts are completed.

KICKOFF 

  • Team practices begin November 17. Each team coach will communicate their specific practice time and gym location.  
  • Parent meeting is scheduled for Thursday, November 17 (7:15pm)
  • Team photos will be Friday, November 18 during practice times    
  • Team Kickoff Event / Team Building - (all players attend) will take place the first Saturday & Sunday following team announcements. Saturday will be an all day event and Sunday includes a UW Women's basketball game late afternoon/evening.
  • Jamboree - Each November RHS Girls Basketball participate in a BBall Jamboree. This year Redmond is hosting the events Saturday Nov. 26
  • Optional gear / Mustang spirit wear orders will also open - More Info to come

SEASON START / PRACTICES 

  • Practices begin November 17 following team announcements.
  • Practices are 5-6 days a week, late afternoon/evenings during the week; Saturday mornings/afternoons.
  • NO practice THANKSGIVING day but practice on Friday, November 25th 
  • Jamboree Tournament Saturday Nov 26th

GAMES BEGIN:

  • Games will start the end of November - Our first game is Nov 30 against Bishop Blancet. Please note that players must have 10 practices before they are eligible to participate in the first game.  Students must also be in good academic standing
  • Review schedule for your team. All schedules are available on the KingCo Athletics site see Varsity schedule & JV Schedule (Important - changes can & will happen watch the schedule carefully)
  • Practices will continue Mon-Sat, we will work around team game schedules

HOLIDAYS: 

  • Both teams practice over winter break
  • NO practice December 24 - 28, or Jan 1
  • Practice will be held 12/29 - 12/31, 1/2
  • Regular practice resumes 1/3

4A LEAGUE PLAY and PLAYOFFS:

  • Game schedule continues to the end of January
  • End of season banquet mid-February for all players/families
  • Varsity team ONLY participates in Playoffs for KINGCO 4A – games begin after last scheduled league game for 4A teams and games can continue for the next 7-10 days depending on win/loss, etc. (first couple weeks of FEBRUARY).  Bracket will be posted on Kingco Athletics Website
  • REGIONAL PLAYOFFS – 3RD week of February
  • STATE PLAYOFFS – last week of February

EVENTS & BONDING

  • Team holds special events throughout the regular season and off season - See Events Calendar
  • Past events have included Santa Brunch, attending other RHS sporting events as a team, volunteering, family night w/ Select Girls BBall, scavenger hunts, team dinners. These events are meant to build team unity and provide a chance to interact off the court.

OFF SEASON CALENDAR

  • March  - May:  Open Gyms
  • Strength and Condition training
  • Mid-April - May:  Possible spring league games for Varsity
  • May 30 - Spring/Summer ball begins
  • June - Possible JV/V League games
  • June - Possible HS Tournaments as available
  • June - Possible RHS Girls Team attends Team Summer Camp
  • July- RHS Girls volunteer at Jr. Mustangs Basketball Camp
  • July/Aug - Open gyms, self-lead conditioning and practice
  • Sept/End Oct - Fall Training Program sponsored by Booster Club. Includes: weight training, skills, league play
